Wildlife

These super photos were recently taken in the Midhurst area.

Black swans are native to Australia but were brought over to the UK in the 1800's. Not uncommon now but if you'd like your own, there is a pair for sale in Hull for £350.

Ducks???????????

Actually no, they're Eqyptian Geese. South Pond may not be as warm as the Nile Valley, but the grass is greener! The species has been here since the 1700's. and they usually nest in trees.

Keep safe, wear a mask

.

Here are some bandits seen trying to enter the NatWest Bank (and failing!) last week. However perhaps it is a good idea to wear a mask when robbing a bank or shopping, just to help prevent cross-infection!

Quiz Photos No. 12

This photo may be a bit tricky but most members of Midhurst Footpath Companions will have been within 100 metres of this nice lamp.

Is this Stonehenge? I don't remember a walk down that way?

Quiz answers.  The avenue of trees is of course in West Liss, just off Shipwrights Way. The large house with the wisteria is Stedham Mill.

You may have noticed some odd things happening on this website in the last 2 days. Something strange happened so the site has been updated and is now on a new server. Hopefully you won't notice any difference. Thanks  very much, Phil, from Arundel. :-)

Just a row of trees, but what an extraordinary shape - where are these?                            ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        This is an easy one, that is, if you've been there!                                                                               ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________                                                                               This last one isn't a mystery, just a beautiful reminder that the bluebells are very plentiful at the moment and if you can get to a bluebell wood safely, are well worth a look.                                 ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________                                                                                                                                                                                                              QUIZ ANSWERS   The gate is on the Midhurst Rother footpath, Woolbeding Estate just after leaving the A272   and that lovely church is St Hubert's Chapel in Idsworth. It was once the centre of a Saxon settlement but the repeated visits of the plague decimated the population and there is no longer any trace of the old village. Wall paintings inside pre-date the plague by only 18 years, having been painted in 1330.
