Byworth walk on 23rd september 2026

The 4.5 mile walk led by Celina and Bernard started at The Well Diggers Arms near Byworth by dropping away in the gully through Hallgate Farm to the Byworth Road, heading north to the footpath near Barnsgate Farm.  Crossing fields and the A283 led to a track past the reservoir and pumping station and into the woods on Brinkhole Heath, up to the Serpent Trail enjoying the shade of the trees and the warnings to ‘Beware of the Chickens’.  A short spell on Kingspit Lane brought us to Flexham Park where we took the footpath that skirts the south west edge of the park. Here we stopped for our coffee break and the breaking out of some birthday celebration wafer chocolates.  We walked through some of River before heading south again across fields to Little Bognor and Brookdean. We then took a small detour to walk through hedgerows and fields, making it back to the A283 near Egdean which we followed until we could use a track to gain the wooded footpath beside the road back to the Pub where we enjoyed our lunch.
