Bourton-on-the-Water Summer Holiday May 2018 Day 1

Intrepid walkers took a trip to Bourton-on-the Water to stay with HF Holidays in Harrrington House. On of the prettiest towns on the Cotswolds it is very busy with tourists during the day.  We avoided the crowds by walking and evenings were spent with excellent dinners and entertainment provided by Harrington House, managed by the brilliant Dionne. The Cotswolds are really good for walking, with hills on an acceptable scale and pretty villages and towns everywhere.

Liphook Morning Walk 16th May 2018

Starting from The Links Tavern in Liphook we headed for the church in Milland. However due to some slight  unscheduled diversions (map reading errors!) we changed to a slightly shorter route to ensure we reaching the Links Tavern promptly. Many pubs have bad days and in fact on this day we needn't have hurried at all. The walk was about 5 miles.

Punch Bowl Day Walk 25th April 2018

We had much nicer weather than the last time we tried to do this walk. Bright sun with a few clouds which did seem to get darker during the morning. Excellent lunch in The Three Horseshoes in Thursley whilst we watched the rain starting to fall outside. Undaunted we set off for the final short leg back to our cars, dashing for cover as some showers were heavier than others.

Rogate Morning Walk 18th April 2018

John, Barbara and Mary took us from a layby on the A272 up to Fyning Common and Rondle Wood before descending past Cumbers Farm and to St Peter's Church in Terwick. It was an excellent walk, helped by ideal weather conditions which had dried all the mud from the previous week and encouraged many plants to flower. Lunch in the Elsted Inn was very welcome. The walk was about 4.1/2 miles

Goodwood Day Walk 11th April 2018

Marian, Linda and June led a small party of walkers from the car park in West Dean Gardens.  Then through West Dean and up into the clouds of Goodwood before dropping down for lunch at The Partridge in Singleton. After lunch it was through the Drovers Estate, some parts being a little muddy but it remained dry overhead all day, with some sun in the afternoon. Many thanks to Marian and Isabel for the photos.
