Hillbrow day walk 28th September 2016

This was a walk led by Denis, starting in Rogate and reaching The Drovers Arms in Hillbrow for an excellent lunch. No rain and generally good conditions - luckily the high crops at the start of our walk were dry. Keen-eyed walkers spotted one of the antique dealers from the TV programme Dickinsons Real Deal taking her dog for a walk - or was it the other way round? On the return journey we saw a plantation of eucalyptus trees, buzzards, a field full of pumpkins and a surprisingly healthy looking crop of sugar beet. Photos with thanks to Denis, Jeff and Marian. The walk was 5 miles in total with 618ft of height gained.

East Dean Morning Walk 21st September 2016

Jennifer and Jean led us on a saunter up from East Dean, through fields and woodland and finally to have lunch in the Fox Goes Free in nearby Charlton. The pub was very busy at first with Goodwood racegoers stopping by for a quick one before the first race, but soon cleared. The weather was very pleasant and the walk was 4.3/4 miles with 730 feet height gained.

Chidham and Prinsted 14th September

We set off in spite of hot weather being forecast and we were well rewarded for our troubles. Jennifer had almost cancelled her walk but the sea breeze kept temperatures down until the last 1/2 hour of the morning as we turned inland. Lunch at the Old House at Home was very tasty and we were well refreshed  to tackle the last mile or two back to Prinsted. We saw a strange trimaran sailing  boat which seemed to be being pedalled, but it was a long way away. However Google search turned up an example and it's a Hobie Trimaran, originally made in USA. Blackberries were excellent all the way round.

Cocking Morning Walk 7th September 2016

Paul's walk went along some glorious Southdowns counrtyside, passing the highly productive Singleton oil well in the process. Lunch was in the Royal Oak in Midhurst. Thanks to Isabel for the super photos.

London Walk 31st August 2016

Marian's walk started at Warwick Avenue Tube station, went to Little Venice then along the Regent's Canal, past London Zoo to Camden Lock for lunch. We parted company with Jeff, Christine and Tristan at this point before retracing our steps and diverting to Regent's Park. We were able to have a second sneaky look at the animals in London Zoo before circling the Boating Lake and going past the Bandstand before stopped for a second coffee stop. Then past some still glorious roses in the park to check out how Londoners are coping in the terraced housing in Chester Terrace. One is for sale - 5 bedrooms - £13.75 million. From a nearby bus stop we caught the bus to Trafalgar Square and then walked to the Golden Jubilee Bridge to finally reach Waterloo. A great walk, full of interest, weather warm but not too hot. About 7.1/2 miles and another 1.1/2 miles on the bus, with some steps but no hills at all. Thanks to Marian and Isabel for additional photos.
